GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va. (WVDN) – Members of several Ruritan clubs in Greenbrier County attended the regular meeting of the Greenbrier County Commission on Tuesday, May 9.
During the meeting, Commission President Tammy Tincher introduced Debbie Bowman, Zone 7 governor of Lower West Virginia District Ruritan, who read the proclamation for Ruritan Awareness Month in Greenbrier County. The proclamation reads:
“Ruritan is a civic service organization made up of local clubs in urban areas, small towns and rural communities. Ruritan clubs have been serving local communities since May 21,1928, with the establishment of the Holland, Virginia, club.
Greenbrier County has eight Ruritan clubs: Clintonville, Frankford, Maxwelton, Muddy Creek Mountain, Renick, Richlands, Smoot and Williamsburg with 184 members.
These Ruritan members promote community, fellowship and goodwill throughout the county. Ruritan members strive to make Greenbrier County a better place to live and work.
For these reasons, we proclaim the month of May 2023 as Ruritan Awareness Month in Greenbrier County.”
After signing the proclamation, the commissioners thanked the group for the volunteer work they do for the communities in Greenbrier County. Tincher said that she sees the good work the Ruritans provide and is grateful for their service.
