Humans Remains Found In National Forest Believed To Be Those Of Cassie Sheetz

A hunting trip led to the discovery of human remains believed to be those of 24-year-old Cassie R. Sheetz, who was reported missing last winter.

According to information provided by the West Virginia State Police, on Wednesday, December 29, West Virginia State Police Sergeant A.D. Teter was led to human skeletal remains located in the northern Seneca Creek area of the Monongahela National Forest.

The remains were undisturbed, but, based on items located at the scene, officials believe them to be those of Sheetz, 24, an Upper Tract resident who went missing from the Spruce Knob area of Pendleton County on March 11, 2021.

The remains have been sent to the West Virginia Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification.

An investigation into the matter remains active and ongoing.
