Hope In the Hills Concert Has Been Canceled

Healing Appalachia released the following information about the Hope In the Hills concert:

On behalf of Tyler Childers, and our volunteer Board of Directors at Hope in the Hills, Inc., we write to inform you that, with heavy hearts and after much consideration, we are canceling the in-person Healing Appalachia concert that was to be held on the grounds of the State Fair of West Virginia on September 24 and 25, 2021.

As of Friday, September 3, our state was at a record high for the number of patients on ventilators. Overall Covid numbers are at January levels, which was our peak; at that time, the state was fully locked down. In Greenbrier County, where we hold the concert, the hospital is at capacity–out of beds and lacking providers to care for patients, regardless of the type or degree of illness or injury.

With already record-high numbers here worsening daily, and a projection for those numbers to double in the next two weeks following Labor Day, our Board has taken the advice of the county’s top health officer, and has decided to cancel Healing Appalachia 2021.

Concert ticket refunds will be automatically given within 3-5 business days back to the original form of payment. You do not need to call unless your original form of payment has changed since the original purchase date. Healing Appalachia and the State Fair of West Virginia are not responsible for tickets purchased from third party vendors. The State Fair of WV office will give refunds for camping.

While we are heartbroken we cannot be together to celebrate recovery–we had more than thirty recovery groups coming from across Appalachia–we aim to continue connecting and supporting recovery in these unprecedented hard times.

As part of that outreach, we plan to present another virtual event, as we did in February of this year, that uses the magical power of music to spread hope through dark days.

Thank you for your patience, kindness, energy, and understanding.
