Glen Daniel Woman Charged After Setting Fire To Boyfriend's House

A Glen Daniel woman allegedly assaulted three firefighters after she set fire to a home owned by her boyfriend.

Tanya Sue Kinzel, 43, was arrested on Sept. 9 by an officer with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department who had been dispatched to call in Glen Daniel regarding a female who was “causing a disturbance and fighting with a firefighter after being told to leave the scene,” according to a criminal complaint filed in Raleigh County.

Upon arrival, the officer noted that she was being held down by one of the firefighters after physically assaulting three fire department members, the complaint states. Members of Coal River and Lester Volunteer Fire Departments were attending to the structure fire.

Kinzel’s boyfriend told the officer that he had left the house earlier that day to get a domestic violence petition against her and “when he returned, his house was on fire.”

A witness told the officer that Kinzel said “I finally did it, I burnt [his] house down,” the complaint continues. Later, Kinzel told the officer that she couldn’t be charged with anything because “she could burn her own house if she wanted to.”

Kinzel is being charged with three felony counts of obstructing a firefighter and one felony count of first-degree arson. She is currently at Southern Regional Jail on a surety/cash bail set at $75,000.
