DSLCC Top Students Honored

Dabney S. Lancaster Community College hosted a virtual ceremony April 22 to induct the newest members into the Alpha Eta Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the honorary academic society for two-year colleges. The guest speaker was DSLCC President Dr. John Rainone.

In addition, two DSLCC seniors, Ashlee Baker of Lexington and Emily Hamilton of Lewisburg, WV, were named to the PTK All-Virginia Academic Team, which recognizes high achieving college students who demonstrate academic excellence and intellectual rigor combined with leadership and service that extend beyond the classroom to benefit society.

Ashlee is majoring in general studies at DSLCC and plans to transfer to Virginia Tech to major in biology on a pre-dentistry track. Emily will graduate from the nursing program at DSLCC and has accepted a registered nursing position for Pediatric Care Unit at a local hospital. She plans to start her BSN program in January, working towards becoming a Doctor of Nursing Practice with a focus on clinical education. Both Ashlee and Emily were honored during a virtual ceremony on April 21.
