CountySeat Arts and Music is set to host their grand opening weekend April 8 and 9. Adding to the Court Street cultural corridor, CountySeat features fine art and crafts from local and regional artists.
Gallery owner Dara Vance is a new transplant to West Virginia, but her roots in the Mountain State run deep.
“My parents, grandparents, and really all my lineage is from West Virginia. I moved here from Florida after losing my job during Covid. I shifted my priorities and wanted to focus on doing what I love,” she said.
Vance plans to use the profits from her gallery to provide scholarships for students and adults to take visual and/performing arts lessons.
“Art kept me in school and provided a positive way to transition out of poverty. As I child I dreamed of owning a business, and the arts enabled me to do it,” she said.
The gallery is hosting and opening reception on Friday, April 8, for Jess Levine’s Works on Paper from 5:30-7 p.m. On Saturday, April 9, the celebration continues with Meet the Artist from 11a.m.-1 p.m. where patrons will have the opportunity to talk with Levine about their work. Ma’am will be the musical guest.
