Truman E. Lawrence, 91, of Nancy, KY, departed this life on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
Truman was born September 28, 1923, in Elk City, OK, to the late Leo and Ellen Evans Lawrence. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy as a gunners mate first class.
Truman was a retired cattle farm manager and horse rancher. He was in the Polled Hereford Hall of Fame. Truman loved to go boating with close friends and family.
He is survived by his sister, Ferne Golightly of Oklahoma City, OK; his son-in-law, Danny Slusher of Nancy; granddaughter, Kara Slusher; and grandson, Cort Slusher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Lawrence, who passed away in 2006; his son, Larry W. Lawrence; daughter, Linda Suzanne Lawrence Slusher; brother, James Lawrence; and sisters, Geraldine Maule and Doris Stewart.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 17, 2014, from 10 AM-1 PM at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, KY.
His funeral will follow the visitation at the funeral home chapel at 1 PM. Bro. Joseph Isaacs of the Wolf Creek Marina Church will officiate the funeral service. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard. Interment will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.
The family suggests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
