Robert Eugene “Bobby/Cat” Wease, 83, widower of Betty Cash Wease of Third Street in Staunton, VA, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Wease was born March 8, 1931, in White Sulphur Springs, WV, a son of the late Carter Braxton Wease and Gladys Ramsey Bonganvani.

Bobby was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and Teamsters Local Union 29. He retired in 1986 from Smith Transfer with 33 years of service as a truck driver and later worked for 10 years as a bus driver for Staunton City Schools. He enjoyed building wooden wagons, fishing, camping, and tinkering with lawn mowers.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Wease was preceded in death by a son, Donald Wease; a granddaughter, Amy Botkin; and a half sister, Nina Cole.

Surviving family members include a daughter, Polly Wease of Staunton, who faithfully and lovingly stood by him to the end, and her friend, Mike Thompson, of Crimora, VA; an adopted daughter, Brenda Cason and fiance, Derril Wikel, of Staunton; a brother, Richard “R.B.” Dean and wife, Jody, of Salem, VA; three sisters, Sharon Humphries and husband, Garland, of Covington, VA, Nancy Vaughn and husband, Eddie, of Eagle Rock, VA, and Patricia Lewis of Myrtle Beach, SC; a foster sister, Virginia Baker of White Sulphur Springs; a special grandson and his caregiver, Bo Botkin; two granddaughters, Lori Messer and Kristi Wease; and a number of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 10 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2014, in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Staunton by Pastor Les LaPrade.

The family will receive friends following the service.

It is suggested that those desiring to make memorial contributions to make them to Augusta Dog Adoptions, 4224 Wakefield Road, Richmond, VA 23235.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of arrangements.
