UPDATE: Earlier, the West Virginia Daily News reported on unconfirmed information regarding a road closure in the area of Griffiths Creek. Those reports have since been confirmed by county officials.
Summers County Emergency Management is expecting a Greenbrier Drive road closure later today (Monday, March 1) due to flooding.
Steve Lipscomb, 911 Director, and Summer’s County Director of Emergency Management, said he anticipates the city of Hinton will close off the main road and divert traffic up “ a little emergency street”, allowing traffic to run parallel to Greenbrier Drive towards the hospital, where traffic can then be rerouted back onto the main thoroughfare. Detour signs will be erected to direct traffic.
Meanwhile, Route 3/12 between Pence Springs and Alderson is currently closed. Lipscomb surveyed the closure at Griffiths Creek and said the road in not expected to be reopened until 7:00 a.m. Tuesday (March, 2).
All are asked to plan their travels accordingly.
The West Virginia Daily News will provide updates regarding area road conditions as additional details are made available.
