A Mercer County man was arrested on Monday, February 1 after multiple alleged attempts to escape court-ordered home confinement. Marcuse Orbe, 30, of Princeton has been charged with felony escape, grand larceny and possession with intent to deliver a schedule-two controlled substance.
At approximately 6:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020, Mercer County Home Confinement officers discovered a “strap violation” on the GPS software used in monitoring Orbe.
According to the criminal complaint, “Orbe had been under the custody of Mercer County Home Confinement for the felony charge of possession with intent”.
The “strap violation” was an indication that Orbe’s GPS monitoring bracelet had allegedly been tampered with, or removed entirely. On Tuesday, November 17, officers responded to the Princeton address where Orbe was required to be, but were unable to locate him there.
On Monday, December 7, 2020, an arrest warrant for Orbe was requested for the charge of felony escape. As the GPS monitoring bracelet Orbe had tampered with or removed was valued at $1050, a second warrant was requested for the charge of grand larceny.
On Monday, February 1, 2021, law enforcement responded to Orbe’s Princeton residence after Mercer County Home Confinement officials advised of reports that he was there.
According to the criminal complaint, upon arriving at the residence, officers were advised by a female resident that Orbe was inside the home. Officers located Orbe in a bathroom and ordered him to the ground. Due to Orbe’s non-compliance with officer’s instructions, he was forcibly brought to the ground, placed in handcuffs and taken into custody.
The complaint also states that, while inside the residence, officers located 17 pills later confirmed to be oxycodone.
Orbe is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bail.
