The Greater Greenbrier COVID-19 Task Force met this morning via conference call and reports the following information.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT. Cases remain significantly lower. Greenbrier County has 1,617 confirmed cases, 3 suspect cases, 745 probable cases, 2,196 recovered cases, 119 active cases, 17 hospitalized, and 50 deaths. (These numbers will be updated this afternoon.)
VACCINE CLINIC. We are planning to adjust our vaccine clinic to Friday due to snow in the forecast. We are calling everyone with an appointment to make sure they know. Kayla McCoy with GGLTRC is coordinating our volunteers, and we are very grateful to everyone for helping us in this community effort!
VACCINE HOTLINE. The state hotline for vaccinations is 833-734-0965 or www.vaccinate.wv.gov.
TESTING. We have many testing sites throughout the county each day. Please utilize community testing at RCB Clinic, MedExpress, Greenbrier Physicians, Rainelle Medical Center, and Monroe Health Center (free daily testing from 1-3 p.m.). Please do not show up to the Emergency Room for a COVID test.
SCHOOLS. As we are in the “green,” our elementary school students are in-person all week. Our secondary students are also returning in-person more often as able. As long as the situation continues to improve, we will continue adding in-person days.
HOSPITAL. We have 3 COVID patients in our beds. Visitors are now allowed from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the hospital.
RCB CLINIC. We continue to provide COVID testing in our mobile clinic Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. In keeping with CDC guidelines and to protect our staff and patients, all patients who present to RCBC with COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed will still be seen in the mobile clinic or via telehealth. We encourage everyone to continue to seek out routine care to help maintain their overall health. If you cannot come into the clinic, we can still see you via telehealth. We have completed the booster doses of vaccine for our patients over 80 years of age that had received their first doses at RCBC, so we do not have any additional vaccine doses at this time. We do not expect to receive any additional doses for the general public anytime soon. We encourage everyone to sign up for the state Everbridge registration system.
RAINELLE MEDICAL CENTER. We are doing free COVID testing Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – Noon by appointment only. We completed a vaccine clinic last Thursday and will host another one this Thursday (weather permitting). Our Midland Trail site will host free COVID testing every Monday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. until further notice. Please remember to pay attention to preventative care with regular appointments. Follow our social media for updates.
MEALS FOR VACCINE CLINIC WORKERS. We are supplying free meals provided by local restaurants and paid for by local donors for all vaccine clinic workers each week. Many thanks to Jen Mason for coordinating and all those local partners making these meals possible!
BROADBAND. COVID has taught us all the importance of broadband in health care, education, and business. We are developing a task force subcommittee on broadband. If you’re interested in joining us, please send an email to: stephen.baldwin@wvsenate.gov.
