The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources has identified 1,011 new cases of COVID-19 and 31 additional deaths attributed to the virus within the last 24 hours.
Among those confirmed deceased are a 77-year-old Greenbrier County man, a 54-year-old Kanawha County woman, an 80-year-old Brooke County man, an 89-year-old Taylor County man, a 61-year-old Jefferson County woman, a 73-year-old Cabell County woman, a 73-year-old Kanawha County woman, a 59-year-old Berkeley County man, a 92-year-old Mineral County man, a 91-year-old Wyoming County woman, a 71-year-old Taylor County man, a 70-year-old Marshall County man, a 65-year-old Berkeley County man, an 82-year-old Berkeley County man, an 89-year-old Hancock County woman, an 80-year-old Kanawha County woman, a 57-year-old Berkeley County woman, a 75-year-old Monongalia County man, a 68-year-old Logan County man, a 72-year-old Wood County man, a 77-year-old Tucker County woman, a 72-year-old Cabell County woman, an 85-year-old Jefferson County woman, an 82-year-old Berkeley County woman, a 71-year-old Fayette County man, a 91-year-old Putnam County woman, an 83-year-old Wood County man, a 69-year-old Putnam County woman, a 65-year-old Putnam County man, an 87-year-old Wetzel County woman and a 92-year-old Greenbrier County man.
The total number of deaths in West Virginia attributed to complications of COVID-19 has now reached 1,815.
West Virginia has vaccinated 160,975 residents thus far, including 24,181 residents who have received both courses. There are currently 26,675 active cases of the virus across the state. The daily positivity-rate is 6.24% and the cumulative positivity-rate is now at 5.50%.
At present, 638 West Virginians are hospitalized with COVID-19, 162 of whom are receiving treatment in the ICU while 85 are being assisted with ventilators. The W.Va. Department of Health and Human Resources reports that 82,330 residents previously infected with the virus have now recovered.
