CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — High school artists can compete to have their pieces displayed at the U.S. Capitol for a year in the 2021 Youth Congressional Art contest.
The competition is open to high school students but exceptions are made for schools that have seventh through 12th grades on one campus, the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History said.
Mail or hand deliver submissions to the Culture Center in Charleston. They must be received by March 5. The exhibit opens March 19 at the Culture Center.
Each student can submit up to two entries in the categories of paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer generated and photography. Contact school art teachers or the exhibits coordinator at (304) 558-0220 for entry forms, rules and guidelines.
The winner from each congressional district will have their artwork displayed at the U.S. Capitol and receive a gift card for art materials.
