The report of a two-car collision went out to Lewisburg Fire Department at approximately 9:24 a.m. on Friday, January 15.
The wreck was located on Jefferson Street North in Lewisburg. When the team of first responders arrived at the scene, they found that two vehicles had hit head-on and rescue efforts began immediately. The responding team included three trucks, LFD E-2010, E-2011 and Command 2028 with crews on each. Lewisburg Police Department also responded to the call.
To secure the scene and provide safety for both the first responders and other drivers, U.S. Route 219 was shut down for the duration of the call. According to Lewisburg Fire Department Chief Joe Thomas, one person had to be extricated from one of the vehicles and one person was transported to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center for injuries.
Firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 10:21 am, almost an hour after the initial call. The road was opened back up at this time.
