The town of Rainelle needs a permanent mayor and, for those interested, now is the time to apply.
According to Deborah McCall, police clerk for the town of Rainelle, candidate registrations are currently being accepted at town hall. Those seeking an office have until January 30 to file their intent to run.
In addition to the mayoral position, candidates may file to run for town recorder and council member.
Those who wish to run for these positions must be a resident of the town of Rainelle and must stop in at town hall to pick up their candidacy form during normal business hours, McCall said. Each form must be notarized, a task McCall can perform, and each candidate should bring their photo identification.
There is a $50 filing fee to run for mayor and town recorder, while the filing fee to run for a council seat is $25. Each position has a two-year term.
The general election will take place on June 1, 2021, McCall said.
