The Monroe County Sheriff’s office has announced testing for the position of deputy sheriff.
The testing will be held Monday, January 25, at 10 a.m. at James Monroe High School football field in Lindside, WV.
The testing will begin with a physical fitness examination beginning at 10 a.m. The physical fitness examination includes: 28 sit-ups in one minute, 18 push-ups in one minute and 1.5 mile run completed under 14 minutes and 36 seconds. All candidates that pass the physical fitness portion will be given a written civil service examination that same day.
Anyone interested in applying can pick up applications at the Monroe County tax office at 350 Main Street Union, WV, 24983 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m Monday through Friday. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on January 22 and must be to the “Attention of Chief Deputy James Hylton.”

Any candidate that took the civil service exam on October 24, 2020, and passed, do not have to take the test again as scores from that testing event are still valid.
