MORTON
Mr. Harold L. Morton was born January 21, 1928 (age 92) in Cowen, WV.
His father, Lloyd Morton, died when he was only 10 months old. His mother, Genevieve, moved Harold and his sister to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Everett Squires.
Harold went to WVU and received his degree in education, like his mother. He served in the Korean War as signal officer.
He returned to Cowen and eventually became principal of the Cowen high school. Later he moved to La Plata, MD and was the principal of several high schools in the area. He then moved to Lewisburg and was a principal here until he had a heart attack and had to retire at age 57.
Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially golf. He was a Mason.
He is survived by his niece and her husband, Colleen and Ted Newing; his nephew and his wife. Bill and Mary Davin. He is also survived by his great-nephew, Jason Newing; and his great-nieces, Keight Newing and Sarah Davin; and dear friend, Georgia Smalley.
A funeral will be held at a later date.
