It is the time of year again for people to enjoy the annual Magic of Christmas in Lewisburg event. There are many things to look forward to including horse-drawn carriage rides, music, treats, A Christmas Tale and Santa’s Mailbox.
The most prominent part of the event though is the window decorating contest. All downtown businesses are encouraged to participate by creating fantastic holiday displays in their windows. Patrons can then vote for their favorite business’ display at the Visitors Center. Every person who casts a vote will be entered to win a $100 gift card to a local shop or restaurant. All you have to do to enter is go to the Visitors’ Center and fill out a ballot with your name, contact information and your choice for the best window display. The decorating began on November 6 and will remain up until Christmas day.
Anyone interested in taking a carriage ride can do so on November 21 and 28 as well as December 5, 12 and 19. Rides will begin at 2 p.m. each day and end at 6 p.m.
Shop windows are not the only Christmas decorations to be seen. There will be lights and other decorations all throughout the downtown area. There will also be holiday music playing.
If you have a letter to Santa that needs to reach the North Pole ASAP, there is some good news! There is a Santa’s mailbox available in downtown Lewisburg. This mailbox is a direct line to Santa himself and will reach the North Pole quickly.
For anyone who loves stories and a treasure hunt, A Christmas Tale is posted throughout downtown. There is a single page posted in the windows of various businesses. You will need to go on a hunt to find the entire story.
Patrons can also look forward to finding special sales, product specials and holiday treats at participating businesses. This is the best time to do your holiday shopping. Everyone is certain to find at least one item to make their holiday a little bit better. It may come in the form of the perfect gift for someone on your list or it may be a special treat for yourself.
All current pandemic guidelines are being closely followed for this entire event. Patrons can rest assured that all businesses are doing everything they can to keep shoppers and employees alike safe.
Lewisburg Mayor Beverly White says she “is excited about all the ways they [local businesses] are trying to make this a good season for everyone!” she also says “if people are tired of…. giving the same old gifts, then come to downtown Lewisburg and be surprised! There is so much to see and do.” She also mentioned that “I hope people will come out and support our downtown and our business owners.”
White also stated that “downtown is beautiful at dark!” For anyone who has not been in downtown Lewisburg after dark recently, it is lit up and decorated to the nines. It is a stunning display that no one will want to miss.
