The holidays are quickly approaching and with them a host of wonderful events. One such event is Christmas at the Fair.
People can drive through a portion of the State Fair of West Virginia fairgrounds where there will be light displays to observe. There is also the option of tuning in to a special radio station where Christmas music will be playing to accompany the lights.
You will have several opportunities to enjoy this event. It will take place every weekend, Thursday through Sunday starting November 27 and continuing until January 2, 2021. The event begins at 6 p.m. each evening and remains available until 9 p.m.
This event is the first of its kind from the State Fair of West Virginia. This year brought the necessary, but unfortunate, cancellation of most events and the annual State Fair was no exception. In a typical year, there are many other events held at the fairgrounds as well. This includes large flea markets, livestock events, concerts and many others. Sadly, none of these were able to take place this year.
The Christmas at the Fair event is the first major event they have been able to hold all year. Because of this, their budget was going to be extremely limited. According to State Fair of West Virginia CEO Kelly Collins, the event would not be able to take place without the help of their amazing sponsors.
Sponsors include Tractor Supply Co, First Energy, Dr. Shamma-Othman, Miller’s Fright Farm and Red Oaks Shopping Center among many others. A full list of sponsors can be found on the State Fair of West Virginia’s website.
Patrons can rest assured that all pandemic guidelines will be followed. Everyone will remain in their vehicles the entire time, as this is entirely a drive-through event. All accompanying music and sounds will be played via the radio station provided when you arrive.
This event is donation only and patrons are encouraged to give what they can to support more fun and entertaining events in the future. In a time of economic crisis, no person or company has remained unscathed. The State Fair of West Virginia is no exception. Every donation, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated.
When you arrive, you will need to enter the grounds at Gate 5, which is located beside the horse barns. This entrance is on 219 North for those navigating by GPS.
If you have the time, head to the fairgrounds on one of the participating weekends for a fun-filled Christmas music and lights filled evening!
