The Ronceverte Woman’s Club held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, October 26.
At this meeting the club honored their newest members, Phyllis Cantrell, Deb McIntire and Rebecca Meriwether, with a reception and gifts purchased at Ronceverte’s newest business, The Potting Shed.
As this was Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention month, the club invited Davina Agee and Jennifer Lilly from the Children’s Home Society (CHS) of Greenbrier County to give the program.
The CHS takes in children who have suffered from abuse and neglect who are referred to them by the DHHR. There are currently 45 staff members and 14 children at the Rupert facility. During the club business session, RWC voted to give the Greenbrier County CHS a donation.
Also, the club made a donation to the Family Refuge Center of Greenbrier County, which provides shelter and counsel to individuals who have experienced domestic violence, elder abuse, sexual assault and stalking.
Every year at the October meeting, the RWC brings food items and monetary donations for the Ronceverte Food Pantry.
The next RWC meeting will be held on Monday, November 23 at 7 p.m. at the Ronceverte Baptist Church fellowship hall. This will be our annual club auction of baked goods and holiday crafts which is open to the public. If anyone is interested in joining a civic organization such as ours, this meeting is a good opportunity to visit and learn more about what we do. For further information, call 304-647-4890.
