Greenbrier and Monroe Counties have completed their required ballot canvassing. Greenbrier County Clerk Robin Loudermilk and Monroe County Clerk Donald Evans told the West Virginia Daily News that the process was finished on Monday, Nov. 9, resulting in both counties finalizing their declared results.
The canvass process is the official tally of every vote cast in an election. Once every county within the district has provided their declared results, they are held for a period of 48 hours to allow for the request of a recount. After the 48 hour period has expired, the declared results are certified by the counties, and an official election winner is declared.
According to Loudermilk, certification is expected to occur on either Wednesday, Nov. 11, or Thursday, Nov. 12.
