West Virginia State Police were dispatched to the Dollar General Store, located at 233 Nicholas Street in Rupert, on the evening of Saturday, November 7, in response to an altercation between two men.
The altercation resulted in the death of one of the men involved. Although the victim’s name has not been released and no official statement has been made by authorities the Greenbrier County 911 Center confirmed that the Rainelle Detachment of the State Police responded to the call.
The alleged details of the incident have not been released as the investigation remains ongoing and State Police have not confirmed any specifics at this time. However, Jonathan Cole McClung, 49, was charged with murder in the first degree. He is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail. No bail has been set at this time.
