Not knowing if they would have a season or a complete season the Greenbrier East High School Cross Country team was bound and determined to give everything they had for as long as they had.
Both the boys and girls have had some impressive personal records this season some over two minutes and one with an amazing eight minute.
Coming home with a medal from every regular season and regional meet this season sophomore Abbey Londeree and Senior Malachi Crews earned their way as individual runners to the state cross country meet.
Seniors, Kaylee Dixon, Tori Parks, Ashley McMillion and Lauren Quick also finished their season on the course at the state meet as the girls earned their way as a team.
Newcomers Abby Dixon, Hailey Elmore, Tabitha Morris, Brianna Hannigan, Aiden Beebe, David Anderson, Nicholas Seldomridge and Trysten Hughes have been a great addition to the East team. Each of them has improved their time by almost two minutes, some more, from the beginning of the season.
David Haynes, Clara Long and Jagger McNeely have all had personal records increases by almost three minutes. These runners are pushing hard each day to improve for themselves and their team.
Juniors Emma Kesterson and Jordan Novotnik are two of the team’s solid athletes. Since they started running cross country each year they improve, and the team’s coaches are excited to see the medals they bring home next season.
“It’s been a great season for our team and as always, we are sad to see it end,” said Kim Sexton, coach of the East Cross Country team. “We wish our seniors well and good luck with their future endeavors. To the rest of our team we look forward to seeing you during track or in summers works.”
