A Greenbrier County woman was taken into custody after allegedly brandishing a loaded 9mm handgun and threatening to shoot several residents at an apartment complex in Rainelle.
On Monday, October 19, Amanda Dawn Holcomb, 43, of Young St. in Rupert was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication, as well as three separate counts of brandishing a loaded firearm.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on Pennsylvania Avenue in Rainelle to investigate reports of “a person waving a gun at people.”
Upon arrival, officers encountered the defendant, Amanda Dawn Holcomb, who is alleged to have been yelling profanities at the time. The complaint states that Holcomb ignored the commands of officers to stop cursing and creating a scene. Officers were successfully able to detain Holcomb, at which time, the complaint states, the odor of alcohol was heavily present on Holcomb’s breath. Officers question Holcomb as to whether she was in possession of a firearm to which Holcomb allegedly responded with more yelling and cursing.
The complaint states that officers were then able to remove a 9mm Luger handgun from Holcomb’s pants. The weapon was alleged to have contained a fully loaded magazine and had a round in its firing chamber. Officers then spoke with three witnesses to the incident. According to the criminal complaint, all three witnesses told officers the same version of events.
The complaint states, “all victims stated the defendant (Holcomb) had walked over to their apartment deck and started cussing and yelling at them. All victims stated the defendant then pulled a gun from her waistband and started waving it around and pointing it at them. All victims stated the defendant threatened to shoot all three of them while she was pointing said firearm at them. All victims stated the defendant just walked up to them for no reason.”
Holcomb has since been released from custody.
