A Greenbrier County man is facing several charges stemming from an incident at his home in Rainelle on Tuesday, September 22. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a neighbor’s home on Cottonwood Place to investigate a possible incident of domestic violence.
Upon their arrival, the two officers were met by the female victim. According to the criminal complaint, the woman alleged that her husband, Robert Wayne Bailey Jr., 39, was heavily intoxicated and had struck her several times around the face before pinning her to the floor and a dresser in their bedroom. The victim was able to escape to a neighbor’s house to contact police. The officers then went to the victims home, where they were met at the door by Mr. Bailey.
According to the criminal complaint, Mr. Bailey was abrasive and unreceptive to their request for him to step outside and talk. Mr. Bailey allegedly slammed the front door on the arm of one of the officers while attempting to close it. The officers then pursued Mr. Bailey into the home, where a fist-fight ensued between the three men, the complaint stated. The officers were eventually able to restrain Bailey, and take him into custody. However, according to the criminal complaint, Bailey allegedly kicked one of the officers before being placed into the patrol car.
Bailey has been charged with unlawful restraint, domestic battery, obstructing a police officer, 2 counts of assault on a police officer and 2 counts of battery on a police officer.
