Since 1866, The West Virginia Daily News has evolved, changed and adapted.
And even though it was forced to shut down, and even close doors permanently due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, The West Virginia Daily News has a new owner and a new direction to bring you not only the local news you depend on, but also news from the state, national and world as it relates to your life here in the Greenbrier Valley.
And even more exciting is, many of the faces you knew from before are back in the office working hard to serve the community that this publication operates.
From the couriers, to the front office staff and the editorial and advertising departments, the staff at The Daily News and Valley Ranger see themselves as stewards to the community.
The advertising department, led by Susan Linton is ready to put more spotlight on your business, and the paper is ramping up its printing capabilities to bring new and improved ad designs like never before.
And your paper couriers are back and excited to deliver you the newspaper Monday through Friday, through every weather condition you can discern. The Daily News and Valley Ranger couriers are the heart and soul of the papers’ every day operation. Without their hard work and dedication all of this would not be possible.
Owner and publisher Scot Refsland is thrilled that the couriers are as enthused as he is to bring The Daily News back to life.
The News Department being helmed by Bill Frye, returning to The Daily News after several years, and Theresa Flerx are ready to make sure you get the news you want into the newspaper so don’t hesitate to reach out and let them know about the events and happenings in your area. And if you see WVDN reporter Matthew Young around, be sure to say hello and let him or the editors know what stories you want covered.
In this new era of The West Virginia Daily News, you will be seeing some changes. From layout to features to comics and more. If there’s something missing or a change you want to suggest, don’t hesitate to reach out to the paper. This is your newspaper, your local daily news and The Daily News is making an effort to reach out and serve the community in every way it can.
One of the biggest additions The West Virginia Daily News and Greenbrier Valley Ranger (soon to be rebranded), is the fact the two publications have become members of The Associated Press.
What does that mean? That means more news that matters and relates to you and your life here in West Virginia and the world beyond.
