Irene Snyder, a resident of Seasons Place Assisted Living Community in Lewisburg, turned 103-years young this week. On Thursday, the WV Daily News had the opportunity to spend a few moments chatting with the birthday-girl.
Snyder, who was born on September 9, 1917, held the position of Postmaster in Asbury before her retirement several years ago. The job had been performed by Snyder’s late-husband prior to her assuming the role. Snyder is also an avid supporter of President Donald Trump, and was thrilled when her cousin, Steve, gifted her a Donald Trump rally cap. Steve, who was at one time a police officer in Washington, D.C., sadly passed away recently.
President Trump himself also got in on the birthday celebration. Snyder was equally thrilled when talking about the letter she received from the President and First Lady, wishing her a happy birthday, and congratulating her on a life well-lived. Snyder is a true patriot, saying how she says a prayer for the President, and the country, everyday.
Snyder received one more surprise on Wednesday, and it was perhaps the sweetest of them all. Her son Charles, who lives in Virginia, came to visit his mom. Charles, who is also celebrating a birthday this week, will turn 76 on Sunday.
