Recently, the West Virginia National Barrel Horse Association District-04 had the opportunity to bring barrel racing back to the community. District-04 is comprised of contestants from Fayette, Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming counties and is the second largest district in West Virginia.
Local riders do a lot of planning and traveling in order to participate in this sport but thanks to the generosity of the State Fair of West Virginia, the district’s local riders were able to compete on home turf. This wouldn’t have happened without their support as well as the support of local sponsors, Mountaineer Farm Center, Pickaway Pickins, Boone Tractor, Boggs Used Auto Parts, McDaniel’s Pre-Owned Cars, and Jake and Ally Reynolds at Double R Arena.
There will be another show on October 17 at the State Fair of West Virginia. Come out and watch these competitors do what they love. See more pictures from the August event on 2A.
