LEWISBURG (WVDN) – The city of Lewisburg celebrated the Magic of Christmas on Saturday, Nov. 19, which culminated with the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in the city green space.

Special guests Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand for the celebration, which was sponsored by the Lewisburg in Bloom Committee, and a Christmas carol sing-along was led by singer Rene Ley and Greenbrier East’s High School’s Second Block Rock band students.

The tree lighting followed a fun-filled day of shopping, snacking, Santa visits and carriage rides for revelers who came to Lewisburg to celebrate the season and get a head start on their Christmas shopping.

The Magic of Christmas returns this Saturday, Nov. 26, for Small Business Saturday with carriage rides from 3-7 p.m., more visits with Santa from 12-2 p.m. and wall-to-wall holiday cheer!

The Magic of Christmas celebrations continue in downtown Lewisburg through the month of December with events happening on Fridays and Saturdays through Christmas Eve.

On Friday, Dec. 2, celebrate First Fridays after 5 with carriage rides from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and a Polar Express scavenger hunt sponsored by A New Chapter bookstore.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, carriage rides continue from 3-7 p.m., the Lewisburg Christmas parade takes place at 12 p.m. while Santa visits the green space from 2-4 p.m. Amy’s Holiday Treats will be set up in the alleyway between the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center and Yarid’s from 3-7 p.m. Many shops are offering extended shopping hours.

On Friday, Dec. 9, Piggy Back Donuts returns to the alleyway between Harmony Ridge Gallery and Serenity Now Outfitters from 2-7:30 p.m. Carriage rides take place from 4:30-7:30 p.m., and shops are open late for holiday shopping.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, celebrate Girls’ Day Out with shopping, giveaways, treats and drinks all day long. Carriage rides take place from 3-7 p.m. and Santa visits the green space from 12-2 p.m. Amy’s Holiday Treats returns to the alleyway between the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center and Yarid’s from 3-7 p.m. Many shops are offering extended, late shopping hours.

On Friday, Dec. 16, carriage rides continue from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and Piggy Back Donuts return to the alleyway between Harmony Ridge Gallery and Serenity Now Outfitters from 2-7:30 p.m. Shops will be open late for holiday shopping.

On Saturday, Dec. 17, carriage rides continue from 3-7 p.m., Santa visits the green space from 12-2 p.m., Piggy Back Donuts will be set up in the alleyway between Harmony Ridge Gallery and Serenity Now Outfitters from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and shops will be open late.

On Friday, Dec. 23, carriage rides continue from 4:30-7:30 p.m., Piggy Back Donuts will be set up in the alleyway between Harmony Ridge Gallery and Serenity Now Outfitters from 4-6 p.m., and evening shopping continues.

On Saturday, Dec. 24, carriage rides take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
