Gerald Halstead was recognized for his retirement from the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office
Courthouse Security.
Sheriff Bruce Sloan presented Gerald with a plaque commemorating his 14 years of service. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the department from hosting the traditional luncheon in his honor.
Sheriff Sloan stated, “We appreciate the many years of service that Gerald has provided to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Greenbrier County. Gerald was the first person that citizens encountered as they entered the courthouse and went through the security screening process. He has been a fixture at the courthouse all these years and was always very dependable. We wish he and his family the very best in the years ahead.”
For those of you who will miss seeing his smiling face take heart, Gerald has agreed to work courthouse security when there is an absence with the permanent staff so you may still encounter him from time to time.
