The city of White Sulphur Springs will hold a public hearing on Monday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. at city hall regarding a water and sewer rate increase. The final vote on the increase will take place at the regular meeting of city council, immediately following the public hearing, at 7 p.m.

CITY OF WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WEST VIRGINIA
A MUNICIPALITY
Notice is hereby given that the City of White Sulphur Springs, a municipal corporation, will hold a public hearing before the final vote on a proposed ordinance, the principal object of which is the increase of sewer and water rates for customers of sewer and water systems operated by the City of White Sulphur Springs. The title of such ordinance is “An Ordinance to Increase Sewer and Water Rates.”
The City is proposing the following rates, fees and/or charges:
Sewer Rates 51.25 (25% increase)
Each customer shall pay a minimum customer charge of $20.10 per month, for 2,000 gallons usage; this represents a $4.02 increase from the March 1, 2009 rates.
Each customer shall pay $10.05 per 1,000 gallons used; this represents a $2.01 increase from the March 1, 2009 rates.
First 1000 gallons: $10.05
Next 1000 gallons: $10.05
Minimum Bill of 2000 gallons: $20.10
Usage Above 2,000 gallons: $10.05
Delayed payment penalty:
Ten percent (10%) shall be added to the net current amount unpaid on all current usage billings not paid in full by the latest pay date, which shall be no sooner than the twentieth day of the month. The delayed payment penalty is not interest and is to be collected only once for each bill where it is appropriate.
Sewer connection fee: $600.00 per tap. This represents a $450.00 increase from the March 1, 2009 rates.
Water Rates 52.35 (28.8% increase)
Each customer shall pay a minimum customer charge of $25.48 per month, for 2,000 gallons usage; this represents a $5.70 increase from the June 4, 2010 rates.
Each customer shall pay $12.74 per 1,000 gallons used; this represents a $2.85 increase from the June 4, 2010 rates.
First 1000 gallons: $12.74
Next 1000 gallons: $12.74
Minimum bill of 2000 gallons: $25.48
Usage above 2000 gallons: $12.74
Water connection fees by size of connection line:
5/8″-1″ $600 which represents a $300 increase from the June 4, 2010 rates.
1.5″ $700 which represents a $400 increase from the June 4, 2010 rates.
2″ $800 which represents a $500 increase from the June 4, 2010 rates.
Delayed payment penalty:

Reconnect fee: $40 which represents a $20 increase from the June 4, 2010 rates.
The final vote on adoption of said proposed ordinance shall be held in the Council Chambers of the City of White Sulphur Springs, 589 W. Main Street, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia on November 14, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Interested parties may appear and be heard, at 6:00 p.m. with respect to the passage of the proposed ordinance. Copies of the proposed ordinance are available at the office of the Clerk, City Hall, City of White Sulphur Springs and will be posted outside of City Hall.
