GARDNER (WVDN) – The Greenbrier East girls cross country team placed first at the PikeView Cross Country Invitational meet on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The Spartans won with 38 points, beating Shady Spring by three points, followed by PikeView (70), Oak Hill (76), and Princeton (123).
Senior Abigail Launderee finished in fourth place with junior Abby Dixon following in fifth; Annie Whited came in 10th.
Violet Wall from Jefferson Christian was the overall individual winner.
“The girls did an excellent job of closing the gap and clustering which led to a three-point win,” said East cross country coach Robert McClintic.
The cross country team races again on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Ripley. On Oct. 8, the Spartans host the Spartan Invitational, and on Oct. 20, East will host the regional championship.
