LEWISBURG (WVDN) – The Greenbrier County Commission held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 27.
The monthly meeting of the Greenbrier County Commission was delayed a day.
Commissioners, who meet at the Greenbrier County Courthouse noted that phone service at the courthouse is being repaired but is not fully functioning. Overload on the system may have been responsible, officials said.
At the meeting Commissioner Lowell Rose was the only commissioner physically present. Commissioner Tammy Tincher was in Western Greenbrier County where high-water problems were being addressed and traffic in and out of the area was risky. She was able to participate via internet connection.
Commissioner Mike McClung was on the phone participating while he was at home dealing with some health issues.
There were several items on the agenda to consider including the White Sulphur Springs Mapledale water storage tank, which was an add-on to the TIF project after low pressure problems were discovered up Rt. 92.
An extension of the deadline for the county broadband project, to allow additional time for the paperwork to be processed was approved.
Also, a completion date extension for work on the Meadow River Trail Project a FEMA repair was considered.
Tincher said the Meadow River Trail Project is very near completion, just a few final things and it will be fully done. The contractor, Court Street, has very little left to do, she said.
Regarding the broadband project, funding has not been finalized and an extension should allow another 60 days for the expected approval.
In other business, the final vote was passed on the county building code revisions already adopted at the state level and will take effect on Aug. 1.
Mary Surbaugh was reappointed to the MTA Board.
While the phones are out of service at the Courthouse the public can still physically go to the offices within the building, contact by email, and to call 911 only for emergencies, for non-emergency call 304-647-7911.
