The Rupert Library has announced that the New River Community and Technical College presentation scheduled for today, July 27, has been postponed till Thursday, Aug. 4, due to flooding in the area.
Please take note of this update.
Advancement and recruitment specialist Joshua Combs will be giving a presentation to share information with the community on New River CTC programs and the WV Invests Grant.
New River CTC offers more than 40 academic certificate and associate degree programs that are eligible for the WV Invests Grant providing free tuition for students. West Virginia Invests was created by the legislature during the 2019 regular session to help West Virginians pay for college starting with the 2019-20 academic year. The “last-dollar-in” financial aid program covers the cost of basic tuition and fees for certificate or associate degree programs in specific-high demand fields, as determined by the West Virginia Department of Commerce.
To qualify for the grant program, a student must: be a legal resident of West Virginia for at least one year immediately before applying; be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen for federal financial aid; be a graduate of a public, private or homeschool program, or have successfully passed a high school equivalency test; have not already earned a college degree (associate level or higher) or have attempted 90 or more college credit hours; have completed the FAFSA; not be in default on a federal student loan; be willing to make a commitment to improving the state by living in West Virginia for at least two years after graduation and completing at least two hours of unpaid community service each academic term; meet the minimum admissions requirements at an eligible institution and register for at least six credit hours; and pay for and pass a drug screening during the 60 days before the start of each academic term.
Students interested in attending New River CTC and receiving funding through the WV Invests program should complete the Federal Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) including New River CTC’s school code, 039603; New River CTC’s application; and the WV Invests application.
