ALDERSON (WVDN) – Local artists demonstrated their skills at Alderson’s Friday for the Arts, held June 10.
The summer-long series, sponsored by Alderson Main Street, is scheduled for the second Friday of the month, May through October, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in various locations throughout Alderson.
Music was provided at the gazebo in Alumni Park by Country Blue duo Melissa “Mel” Waggy and George Piasecki.
Derrek Marcus showed his hand-thrown pottery at Fruits of Labor café, while his wife, Amber Marcus, provided samples of her wire-wrapped jewelry at the historic Alderson’s Store.
Micki Hickman rounded out the featured artists with several crochet pieces at the Alderson Artisan’s Gallery. Several vendors were also on site in Alumni Park with jewelry and paintings.
Event organizer Don Sutherland said, “This is a new event for Alderson, so word is still spreading, but it has been very well-received by the community.”
Artists and arts/crafts vendors that would like to participate in future events may contact Don Sutherland at openmicatthedepot@gmail.com. or visit Alderson Main Street Facebook page. There are no vendor fees for participating.
