Downtown Lewisburg kicks off summer with First Fridays After Five on Friday, June 3, from 5-8 p.m. Enjoy live music, meet talented artists, catch late evening shopping deals and have a refreshment or two, all free to the public. Everyone is welcome.

Wolf Creek is excited to be showing handmade leather bags by Ron Swanburg. Swanburg is a peer and self-taught leathersmith initially making and marketing his craft for Michigan arts and craft shows. He moved to West Virginia in ’74 and found home and a climate of respect for hand-made craft with a willingness to support it. All his leathers are cow hide and hand stitched. And the designs are traditional or uniquely his own.

In the gallery, local artist Margaret Golden presents her show titled “My Home Among the Hills,” a collection of watercolor, acrylic, and digital paintings highlighted by the addition of two felt pieces created by her daughter, Sara. Hailing from Pocahontas County, Peggy Owens’ colorful show will be displayed in the Art Alcove. Owens’ exhibit features glass mosaics, acrylics, fused glass pieces, photography, and mixed media. You won’t want to miss this eclectic show titled “ADHD Meets AARP.” She has two rules: “1) Never again follow rules and 2) Don’t do anything that’s not fun!” Music throughout the evening will be performed by G.R.O.U.P., a local ukulele band. Also, be sure to get your Rubber Ducky tickets and find out about the upcoming Ronceverte River Festival. Members of local garden clubs will also be on hand with quilt raffle tickets and info on the June 11 Greenbrier Valley Home and Garden Tour.
