PERKINS
Helen Novella Perkins, 88, of Sam Black Church, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Peyton Hospice House, Fairlea, WV.
Born on November 1, 1933, in Nallen, she was the daughter of the late Dennis Faye Harper and Beulah Bonnie Gaye Cavendish Harper.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Paul “Shorty” Perkins; infant daughter, Mary Catherine; great-grandson, Ezekiel Perkins; brothers, Charles Harper and Bruce Harper.
Survivors are her son, Willie (Linda) Perkins of Crawley; daughter, Patricia (Charlie) Parker; grandchildren, Jacob Perkins, Joshua Parker, Amanda Thymius, and Courtney Parker; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Kadin, and Kameron Parker, Gracie and Brady Thymius, and Zowie Perkins; sisters, Marcella Riffe of Crab Orchard, Verna May Farley of Fairborn, OH, and June Harper of Hico; sisters-in-law, Gerry Burns of Kalamazoo, MI, Patricia Harper of Front Royal, VA; brother-in-law, David (Jackie) Perkins of Berryville, VA; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Novella was a member of Sam Black Church for 66 years and a voracious reader; a quality she instilled in her children. She will be greatly missed by all her family, church, and community.
Service was held 2 p.m., Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Sam Black Church with Pastor Penny Bivens officiating. Burial followed at the Old Burns cemetery, Sam Black. Friends could visit with the family from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
