The Greenbrier East Spartans hit early and often and dominated the Shady Spring Tigers by a final score of 14-7 on Monday, May 2.
The game was never in doubt as East led 14-2 before Shady Spring picked up some garbage time runs in the seventh.
Josh Lovell, Adam Richmond, and Colten Tate all contributed in the big inning with RBIs for the Tigers.
Greenbrier East had a huge fifth inning when they plated five runs.
The offensive firepower was led by Gabe Patton, Clayton Morgan, Ian Cline, Darris Boswell, and Ashton Cochran, who each drove runs across home plate.
Jacob Roshau was the winning pitcher for Greenbrier East.
Roshau allowed four hits and two runs over six innings and struck out three.
Boswell threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
David Young took the loss for the Tigers. He surrendered three runs on six hits over three innings, struck out four and walked one.
The Spartans collected 16 hits on the day.
Patton, Gavin Bennett, Peyton DeHaven, and Boswell all managed multiple hits for Greenbrier East.
Patton went 4-for-5, scored two runs and had two RBIs. Bennett was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and Boswell was 2-for-3 with a run and three knocked in. Finally, DeHaven went 3-for-4 and also scored a run.
Shady Spring tallied eight hits. Tyler Mackey and Jacob Meadows each had two hits for Shady Spring.
The Spartans are slowly coming to a close on the regular season with sectional tournaments just around the corner.
They sit at 13-12 in the season.
