WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS (WVDN) – Through the suggestion and equipment provided by the “Recycle Lady,” the Greenbrier Valley Council 8689 Knights of Columbus is now offering recycling of the plastic water bottles served with each “tilapia walk-in to go” dinner on April 8, 22, and 29 in Butler Hall of St. Thomas Episcopal Church on West Main St. in White Sulphur Springs.
The newspaper column, “Dear Recycle Lady”, appears in The West Virginia Daily News on a weekly schedule.
“Much of the ingredients for the fried tilapia, the scalloped potatoes or mac and cheese, the deserts, the hard rolls arrive in cardboard boxes which the volunteers culinary staff sees that a member of the Knights take to recycling center in Ronceverte,” Perk Berry Jr., grand knight of the council noted.
“This is just one more way we can serve the public through our fund-raising dinners,” he added, noting the Knights provide free dinners delivered to Catholic and Episcopalian shut ins in White Sulphur Springs and extra food goes to the Family Refuge Center.
The tilapia dinners are served 4:30-7 p.m. and can be “take outs” by stopping in front of Butler Hall or walk ins who have the option of sitting at the few tables available and dining with friends, but with no table service.
Dinners include tilapia, scalloped potatoes or macaroni and cheese (depending on availability from wholesalers) Coleslaw, sauces, hard roll, bottled water, and dessert along with utensils.
