After the Wild Life Mural in downtown Ronceverte was damaged in a vehicle accident, its creator is looking to stay positive and find a new mural or display to take its place.
The accident took place on Friday, January 28, after a trailer detached from a truck going up Main Street in Ronceverte.

The mural was designed by councilmember Tanya Hazelwood, who was disappointed to see the hard work that went into painting it damaged.
“Of course, I feel very saddened that something I worked so hard to design and paint was ultimately damaged by a vehicle,” said Hazelwood. “At this point I don’t see it being repaired to an aesthetically pleasing look.”

This does not mean the mural will just hang out with the damage – a new plan is in the works.
“After speaking with the Mayor, Council, and City Administrator I’m sure we will come up with a plan for something bigger and better than before,” Hazelwood said. “I’m taking this as a sign that it was time for another change to beautify Ronceverte. Spring is coming and it’s time for refreshing anyway.”
