A Leslie man has finally been arrested after evading officers for over a year.
According to Rainelle Police Chief JP Stevens, Garnie Woodrow Angle III, 43, was arrested during a traffic stop on Tuesday, January 4, after it was discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Greenbrier County, back on September 8, 2020, Angle had been involved in a domestic violence incident at a home in Leslie.
An officer with the West Virginia State Police Rainelle Detachment was dispatched to the scene after the victim called 911, stating that Angle was threatening to kill [the victim] and was trying to take the phone away from [the victim].
Angle was able to flee the scene, but he was charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, domestic battery, domestic assault, petit larceny and interference with emergency communications.
A Greenbrier County Magistrate issued a warrant for his arrest on September 9, 2020.
In addition to prior charges, Stevens stated that he has also charged Angle with one count of driving while suspended.
His arrest was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Rainelle Police Department and the West Virginia State Police.
