The Eastern Greenbrier Knights outlasted the visiting Tigers from Shady Spring Tuesday evening by a final score of 37-33. The Knights led at the end of each quarter, taking a commanding 21-12 lead after baskets by Dubya Vickers and Brody Hamric.
The Tigers were resilient in a potential comeback in the third quarter after taking a brief 25-24 lead. However, Hamric and Sam Hawver scored key baskets that would extend the Knight lead at the end of the quarter 28-25.
The final period was a defensive battle as the Knights were able to secure their lead for good. Colton Dunbar and Lane Lambert made critical free throws down the stretch as EGMS was victorious. The win proved to be critical as the Tigers were scrappy, but the Knights were happy to pick up the victory. EGMS will return to action Thursday against Beckley-Stratton in Fairlea.
