A nearly half-million dollar lease-purchase agreement over five years was approved by the Greenbrier County Commission on Tuesday, December 28.
The lease/purchase agreement concerns the Greenbrier County Day Report program.
“These two buildings are buildings that are in Ronceverte,” explained Commissioner Tammy Shifflett-Tincher. “One building is the current building that the Greenbrier County Day Report program currently resides in. The other building is located just beside the old Morgan and Morgan Insurance building. Both of these buildings are in very good shape, they will be very beneficial for us to continue to allow the Day Report program to stay in Ronceverte, which is working very, very well in that location. It will allow us to have our Home Confinement program move to the other building, able to utilize it [for] more space for them to work. Currently, we rent the building the building day report is in.”
The agreement is for properties currently owned by Steve Morgan in Ronceverte. As explained by Commission President Lowell Rose after the meeting, the total price for the building is $420,000 with a $50,000 downpayment. The monthly payment will be $6,814.11 for five years, as this is a lease-purchase agreement to be paid out in 60 months.
“This purchase of these two buildings will allow us to eliminate that rent payment and, ultimately, within a five year period, we will own both of those buildings, and will not have to pay rent continually,” Tincher continued. “I think it is a very good transaction, and I would thank the county for having the wisdom to fund the Day Report program.”
McClung moved to approve the agreement, and the commission voted to approve it.
