The follow statement was issued by the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page on Tuesday, December 28.
On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, Deputy S . L. Morris of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a burglary that had occurred at Alfredo’s in Rainelle during the nighttime hours.
The back door to the restaurant had been forced open and entry was made into the restaurant. Video surveillance was reviewed which was captured by cameras located at the restaurant and Gregory Foley of Rainelle was identified as a potential suspect in the crime.
Deputy Morris, along with Officers from the Rainelle Police Department and the Rainelle Detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to Foley’s residence in Rainelle where he was located and was found to be in violation of a protective order.
Foley was arrested for violation of a protective order and during his arrest, was questioned in reference to the burglary that occurred at Alfredo’s Restaurant, Foley confessed to being involved in that crime.
Foley was then charged with Burglary, two counts of Destruction of Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance, along with the violation of a protective order.
Greg Foley was transported to the Southern Regional Jail pending arraignment by a Greenbrier County Magistrate.
All suspects arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
