Beckley based New River Transit Authority (NRTA) has announced a promotion geared toward making public transit more affordable and convenient—just in time for the holiday season.
Public transportation has played a vital role in supporting the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that residents have gone back to work, and the holidays are upon us, NRTA representatives want to ensure that anyone who needs a ride can get one. For this reason, they are offering a new unlimited universal pass.
On average, NRTA provides 3,300 trips monthly across Raleigh and Fayette counties. Rides include traditional pick-up along the established transit lines. Deviated routes, which are pick up and drop-offs near the transit route but not directly on it, and demand response trips, allowing riders to request a pick up anywhere in Raleigh County and drop off anywhere in Raleigh County.
The new Universal Unlimited Pass includes all these options for one monthly rate. Fees for this service are $7 round-trip. The universal pass includes unlimited rides for $65.
Riders rely on public transportation for everything from work, business, recreation, shopping, and access to education or medical services. NRTA is a vital asset to the elderly and disabled population but everyone can take advantage of these services.
