Nondis Lorine Chesnut, age 80, passed away on November 3, 2021, in Gloucester, VA.
She was born in White Sulphur Springs, WV, and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Myrtle Allen Campbell. She graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School and went on to earn a Master’s in Reading from Shippensburg University, was awarded an A.G.S. in Reading from the University of Maryland, and a BS degree in English and Speech from Concord University.
Nondis was a passionate Reading Specialist, English Teacher, and writer. She also served as President of the Maryland Reading Association. She retired from Washington County Public Schools before moving to South Daytona, FL, to teach at the collegiate level. While in Florida, she authored two books. Nondis enjoyed spending time with family and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Starlina and Greg Kladler; two grandchildren, Sarah and Allison Kladler; and siblings, Patricia Hendricks, Milvinia Reid, Grace (Dennis) Morgan, and James Campbell.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Raymond Chesnut; and brother, Anthony Eugene Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Saturday, November 13 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at May Chapel in Neola, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
