A Meadow Bridge man is in jail after crashing his car into a home while under the influence of alcohol.
According to court documents, a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call on Sept. 30 stating that someone had just “crashed into their house.”
Upon arrival, the officer noted that “there was immediate notice of a white van that had smashed into the front of the residence,” the complaint states. “From the scene, it appears that the vehicle was airborne just before crashing into the residence. The residence was hit so hard that the foundation was notably busted and the entire house had been shifted back roughly one foot. Inside the residence, the walls were also noted to be cracked down the middle.”
The driver, identified as Derek Russell Tutor, 33, had been heading towards Meadow Bridge on Route 20 when he lost control at a high rate of speed, the complaint continues.
While speaking with Tutor, the officer stated that “it was very clear he was under the influence of alcohol.” Tutor also allegedly admitted that he was drunk.
Tutor was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center for medical treatment.
He has been charged with one felony count of destruction of property and misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence; driving while revoked for DUI; reckless driving; failure to maintain control; no proof of insurance and no seatbelt.
Tutor was booked at Southern Regional Jail on Oct. 28. No bail has been set.
