FARLOW
Donald Ray Farlow, 74, a resident of Lewisburg, WV, and while a resident of Hospice, Peyton House, passed Saturday evening into the arms and heart of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and joined the multitude of voices in God’s Choir. Don had suffered many months from multiple illnesses.
Don was born in Greensboro, NC, to Joseph and Ruth Farlow, who are deceased, and was the youngest of three boys. His brothers, David and Bill, are also deceased.
Don is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Donna Umfleet Farlow, also born and raised in Greensboro, NC; and a precious dachshund, Yosef. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Nancy Farlow of Greensboro, NC; a sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne Darlene Hershberger and Roger Hershberger of Waynesboro, VA, one time residents of Lewisburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Brenda and Eddie Umfleet of Roanoke, VA; a sister-in-law, Pat Umfleet of Greensboro, NC; and a host of cousins and nieces and nephews.
Don graduated from Walter Hines Page Senior High School and attended the University of North Carolina – Greensboro and Guilford College. Don proudly and faithfully served his country during the Vietnam Era in the United States Coast Guard and was a Charter Member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, Chapter #1072 in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
Don and Donna are members of Fairlea Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Fairlea, WV, where Don was a member of the choir. Don was associated with the Western Greenbrier Rotary Club, a community volunteer and a Charter Member of The Saturday Morning Coffee Group for twenty-five years, that still meets at The Wild Bean in downtown Lewisburg, and he worked at American Foam Technologies in Maxwelton for 18 years.
Don is also survived by a very loving circle of friends that he loved dearly, that do and will continue to miss him.
The family would like to extend their affection and appreciation to the Hospice Peyton House, in Lewisburg, WV, for their amazing gift of love and care that Don and the family received during Don’s short stay.
