A Greenbrier County man was arrested on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 19 in connection with several instances of alleged criminal activity stemming back to May 2020. Dudley Allen Walton, 30, previously of Ronceverte and now of Lewisburg has been charged with obstructing an officer, petit larceny, one count of domestic assault and one count of domestic battery.
On May 4, 2020, officers from the Lewisburg Police Department were dispatched to the area of Frazier Street in response to reports of a fight taking place in the street. Upon their arrival, officers learned that the altercation, involving Dudley Allen Walton and a female victim, had occurred in a rental car.
According to the criminal complaint, a backseat passenger within the vehicle witnessed Walton assaulting the female victim, advising officers that “(Walton) struck her three times in the chest area with his fist.” Walton then reportedly exited the vehicle and went into his home.
Upon arriving at Walton’s residence, officers report “he (Walton) advised that we were on private property and to leave.” Walton was subsequently arrested for domestic battery.
Some 14-months later, on July 23, 2021, officers with the Lewisburg Police Department were once again dispatched to investigate a situation involving Walton; a “theft style complaint.” Shortly after 4 a.m., the Greenbrier County 911 Center was contacted regarding an alleged theft that had occurred at the Go-Mart gas station on Jefferson Street in Lewisburg. As reported in the criminal complaint from that incident, Walton was captured by surveillance footage stealing a honey bun and a pack of cigarettes. The total amount of the theft was $9.19.
At approximately 5:45 p.m. on the same day, Lewisburg police officers responded to a Frazier Street residence to investigate a reported “domestic in progress.”
Upon their arrival at the residence, officers reportedly “attempted to make contact at the front door and the door was slammed shut from the inside and locked. (Officers) knocked on the door several times and announced (themselves) as Lewisburg Police Department several times with no answer.” Additional units responded to the residence, and report being “clearly visible in front of the house.”
According to the criminal complaint, “Eventually [ ] Walton yelled from the inside of the house saying, ‘we are not unlocking it. Kick the door in (expletive) or (expletive) off!” Officers then gained entry into the home with the use of a Halligan tool provided by the Lewisburg Fire Department. Walton was then placed under arrest.
According to Walton’s wife, who was also present in the home at the time, “he was coming off suboxone and he was angry because she wanted to go to bed so he began throwing things and yelling.” Walton also allegedly “threw a basket through the wall leaving a large hole.”
Dudley Allen Walton is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail. Walton is not eligible for bail at this time.
