A Greenbrier County man is in jail once again after allegedly continuing to harass his previous victims. Kenneth Lee Williams, 60, of Rainelle, who had previously been charged with robbery and grand larceny, is now facing the additional charges of extortion and intimidation of a witness.
On Saturday, Oct. 16, Williams, along with another man, reportedly arrived at the Quinwood home of his earlier victims demanding money. According to the criminal complaint, Williams wanted the sum of $50 for the unrecovered key of the vehicle he is accused of stealing from the victims two months ago. Both the 84-year-old female victim, and the 87-year-old male victim reported being “very intimidated and afraid by their (Williams and another man) presence.” The victims provided Williams with a check for $50 so that he would leave their residence.
The female victim further stated that Williams’ companion “told her that this was a good deal and that she could not prove that Mr. Williams had taken the truck anyway.” Once the victims provided Williams with the funds, Williams returned the key to their vehicle.
The alleged theft of the victim’s vehicle occurred back on August 17, when Williams reportedly arrived at their residence requesting money. As the victims were concerned for their safety due to Williams’s “agitated physical presence.”
According to the criminal complaint documenting this incident, they provided him with $20 so that he would leave. Prior to his leaving, however, Williams allegedly “walked through the house as if he was searching for something.” Sometime after Williams’ departure, the residents became aware that the keys to their 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck were missing. Williams was located shortly thereafter on 2nd. Street in Rainelle, in close proximity to where the vehicle was found parked. The key was not recovered at that time.
Kenneth Lee Williams is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail in lieu of a $20,000 cash-bond or surety.
